The best park ever!!

Took the kiddos for a hot July park outing.  We had a BLAST, and managed to stay relatively cool...
Sophia's first snowcone ever- which she devoured like everything else :)
Fun rides that are "antique"
Playing in the rivers...They made a miniature copy of all the local canyons, rivers, and lakes.  The kids can go from stream to stream...they love to float things down.  All the water is under 2 feet deep.  So fun... nice and shady too.
Sophia playing with the watering can in the rivers.

Now THIS is how you eat a turkey sandwich and cheetos...

A much neater way to eat lunch by Mason.

Ziploc bag Ice Cream- YUMMMM!!!!

Everyone that has kids- get a pen and write this down.  This is the freshest, easiest, and funnest way to make a little kid-sized serving of homemade ice cream!  Here is the recipe: courtesy of my friend Julie :  Thanks Julie :)

1/2 cup half and half (I used organic and it was WAY yummy)
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract or any other extract

Seal this in a small ziploc bag, tape the zip top for added security.  You DON'T want salty ice cream folks!

1 gallon ziploc bag half filled with ice
1/4 cup rock salt (put this with the ice)

Put small ziploc inside large ziploc and zip it all up.  Slowly shake or roll around on the floor (kids love this) for about 6 minutes.  When it starts to seperate away from the bag and harden you are getting close, when it is pretty hard- it's ready!  Open large bag, take out small bag.  Rinse small bag of with water (going back to salty ice cream)  open and serve.  WOW!  So fresh and amazing.

The finished product.
Mason helping measure the half and half.

Vanilla- YUM!
Mason rolling around the ice cream bag...
Sophia LOVES ice cream!
Wow, they are so quiet :)

The Dark Knight- In theatres

This girl has been CRACKING us up lately.  Today, she brought me Mason's Batman mask to put on.  She loved it, and wore it for about 45 minutes, while eating pumpkin-chocolate-chip cookies.  Mason joined in with Spiderman of course!

Serious Batman...
Superheroes YAY!!

Jimmy Crack CORN!!

There aren't words to describe just how much Sophia loves corn!  She wiggles around in her seat like a crazy person just waiting for it to cool off enough for her to eat it.  And then devours it.

YAY for corn!!

These boots are made for....DANCING!

We found these old boots of Mason's while cleaning out a closet, of course Sophia wanted to put them on.  "Boots, boots Mama"  Then she jumped and danced around to try them out.  Yes, this is Mason in the laundry baskets behind her...the caged animal.  I have NO IDEA what was up with the toilet paper???  Hmmmm.

Swimming Lessons!!

We started swimming lessons this week, on Tuesday.  I was lucky enough to find a parent/tot lesson for Sophia and regular group lessons for Mason at the same time!!  We can all go and have fun learning to swim at the same time.  A rarity.

This is after Mason's lesson...yay!  All his hair is wet!  That means he went all underwater...
Sophia loves the water, she is good at floating and kicking and blowing bubbles.
This was before our lesson.  The kids were excited- but took a minute to pose sweetly.

Cool mountain air...

So we headed up to Snowbird this weekend for some cooler temps and fun with the family.  It was sure a lot of fun, and as we thought about 15 degrees cooler.

As you can see Sophia enjoyed a chocolate chip cookie at the park.

Cruisin' on the trail by a pond, Mason rocks on his scooter!
This was Sophia's first time in a bounce-house.  We had a REALLY hard time getting
her out of it- she loved it.  She learned how to jump so high in this thing!!
Here's the girls on the alpine slide, Sophia waved like she knew daddy
was going to take her picture.  So sweet!
Mason trying to master the monkey bars.
The boys going a lot faster on the alpine slide- YIKES!!

Happy 4th of July!!

Some pics from the good 'ol 4th of July festivities.  I loved that it was on a Friday this year, totally makes the weekend great!!  Here we are at the parade with Grandpa.

Matt with the kiddos at the parade.  There must have been something really great going by- look at Mason and Sophia's faces...funny.
My yankee doodle sweetheart.
In our yard in the evening lighting off some fireworks and having popsicles.
Sophia's reaction to the fireworks...priceless.

Viva Mexico!!

This past Saturday we left for Cabo San Lucas to celebrate our 12th (gasp!) anniversary.   We were there for 5 glorious days, and it was just perfect because that last day I think all we talked about were the kids.  A big thank you to Grandma Bug for coming and staying with Mason and Sophia- I think they had as much fun as we did!  Well, almost...

Here we are in the Phoenix airport- how excited can two people be??
Ahhh.  Our view from the balcony at sunrise.  One of two glorious pools.  Amazing that this picture doesn't do it justice.
We fabulous local beverages and a fresh coconut that we cracked on a rock at the beach one night.
By the dock in Cabo San Lucas.
The last sunset of our trip.  We had a great time...Now, back to reality I guess.
